Research abstract
This project will develop electronic design parameterization methodology and algorithms for deep submicron hierarchial physical library planning. The project's research will be based on the Theory of Parameterization and the Theory of Massively Interconnected Systems. At silicon process rules below 0.5 micron, interconnects behave as active components. One of the main underlying electronic design issues is theincreasing domination of interonnect delay over gate delay at smaller micron levels. Along with design issues such as power, signal integrity, and themal issues, this circumstance drives efforts toward an ENTIRE design planning methodology. Hierarchical physicla library planning is a crucial and inseparable part of the entire design planning process. A crucial part of planning such libraries is their parameterization. The main essence of this projec tis to create a parameterization methodology and algorithms for development of a parameterization tool. The parameterization tool will be used as an independent tool or easily integrated into current EDA environments for different design purposes.
