Research abstract

A system is proposed that has the capability of being able to measure hundreds of fiber gratings in a single line. By combining this technology with the multi-axis fiber grating strain sensors developed by Blue Road Research as well as fiber pressure, temperature and moisture sensors effective health monitoring systems for aging aircraft can be realized. Blue Road Research intends to use this technology to support commercial and military aircraft applications and it has potential in the civil structuresarea as well. It will strongly complement the existing line of Blue Road Research commercial fiber grating sensor products.
