Research abstract
JITCube (Just-In-Time e-Training and e-Testing) is an advanced system for the development, delivery, and management of e-learning and blended learning. JITCube features a full suite of tools for content structuring, collaborative approvals, content designand publication, web-based lesson and test delivery, automated content management, and system-wide reporting.JITCube's architecture is based on modern object-oriented technology and the use of open standards. The object-oriented approach leads to software that is easier to maintain and extend than older, structurally programmed software; adherence to openstandards ensures that the software can be readily integrated with other standards-compliant applications. Moreover, JITCube supports all relevant DoD standards and rules concerning information technology and software systems (e.g., ADL SCORM and Section508).The JITCube system treats training as a cyclic process, with phases of planning/planning approvals, design/design approvals, content authoring, content publishing, content and student management, content delivery, student assessment, synchronous andasynchronous collaboration, training analysis and automated reports. JITCube is also flexible enough to allow the user to skip unnecessary steps. For example, detailed planning steps can be skipped when the author is updating an existing course.
