Research abstract
Not Available CoreTek, Inc. proposes a miniature spectrometer covering near-infrared wavelength range of 1000nm-2000nm with high resolution of better than 0.3nm based on a proprietary Microelectromechanical (MEMS) technology. While providing high spectral resolution and wide wavelength coverage, each component of the spectrometer occupies less than a 1x2x0.3mn3 space thereby offering orders of magnitude advantage in weight, size and scanning speed over competing technologies, such as rotating gratings or diode array spectrometers. The actual instrument size, cost and weight will be limited by the size of multi-chip-module circuit and the liquid crystal display that control analyze and display the measured data. A successful two-Phase program will result in an instrument that could be manufactured inexpensively for applications ranging from measuring of toxic chemicals in the battlefield to analysis of blood chemicals and low-cost monitoring of volatile gases in petrochemical industries. In Phase I, we will develop and demonstrate the key MEMs structure, design the controller electronics, and develop a comprehensive integration plan to result in a complete chemometric spectrometer instrument by the end of Phase II. The specifics of the design will be based on a large market military and/or private sector application, that will be selected during Phase I. In Phase II, a complete working prototype will be developed and delivered to the government.
