Research abstract

The objective of the project is to design three headforms (small, medium and large) for use in military crashworthy and ejection seat testing, as well as retention and fit assessment of helmet and head supported devices. The designs, applicable to military male/female aviator population, will be based on a scientific review of available anthropometric surveys, mass properties, biodynamic response, skin properties, and occipital pivot locations of the adult head and neck. The headform will be compatible with the Hybrid III with interfacing at the Denton 6-axis load cell.
