Research abstract

PACIFIC ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY HAS INVENTED A TECHNIQUE FOR PERFORMING MULTI-COLOR IMAGING USING STARING ARRAYS. THIS TECHNIQUE NOT ONLY ENABLES A SENSOR TO MEASURE MULTI-COLOR, IT PROVIDES THE CAPABILITY TO MEASURE THE FINE SPECTRAL SIGNATURES OF TARGETS WITH A RESOLUTION OF LESS THAN 0.01 UM IN THE MID INFRARED SPECTRAL REGION. THIS TECHNIQUE IS REFERRED TO AS "IMAGING MULTI-SPECTRAL SENSING, (IMSS)". IMSS IS ESSENTAILLY AN IMAGING SPECTROMETER THAT IS LIGHT WEIGHT, LOW COST AND USES AS A SIMPLISTIC OPTICAL DESIGN. IT IS DIRECTLY APPLICABLE TO THE KINETIC ENERGY WEAPON SEEKER TARGET DISCRIMINATION AND TARGET IDENTIFICATION PROBLEM. IN THIS PROPOSAL WE DESCRIBE THE IMSS AND DEMONSTRATE HOW IT CAN BE APPLIED TO A KE WEAPON SEEKER TO MEASURE THE SPECTRUM OF THE TARGETS AND BACKGROUNDS IN ORDER TO DISCRIMINATE AND IDENTIFY.
