Research abstract

The problem adressed is the design and development of a database of historical aircraft maintenance repair and modification data. The database is to contain significant cost estimating criteria and applicable values form previous actual modification and repair program. Cost estimateing realtionships (CERs) would then be developed wich would allow planners and cost estimators to produce accurate and reliable cost estimateds for futre projects. The database design should faiclitate rapid update of cost estimateing criteria as acatual data from completed and ongoing projects avialble. The databse should be flexible enough to be taileored to particula rfacilities in order to generate and update faicliyt specific CERs. Actual cost data from previous projects will be comiled into the dtabase by approapoiate criteria. During Phase I six specific technicla objectives will be met as follows: determine the sources of relevant aircraft repair and modification data, identify categories, develop framework of cost data, determine cost estibating criteria, collect sample data, and design the database, Preliminary CERs will be developed and feasibilty demonstation vailidating database design will be provided during the Phase I option period.
