Research abstract

An innovative Aerodynamic fan spray bar method is proposed to generate fine fan sprays. This design features the merits of simplicity and lost cost. One can easily vary the number/location of injecting ports on the bar to formulate a well distributed overall sprays. This is an ideal candidate for the main combustion section application of GEAE's advanced combustor concept of IHPTET initiatives to enhance the combustion performance and NOx reduction. The single fan nozzle of the same design can be readily used for the flame holding section of the same concept of GEAE to improve the flame stability of the engine. The proposed concept has the potential of enhance fuel/air mixing in the combustor to result in smaller/shorter size of combustor chamber to reduce the engine total weight. The simplicity in design/manufacturing of this concept will drastically reduce the manufacturing/overhaul cost of the combustor assembly.
