Research abstract

This project will design and prototype a system for the fusion of digital elevation models (DEM's) in various formats, coordinate systems, and resolutions. The systemwill automatically determine the relative translations between input DEM's, thenproduce a fused DEM at the specified resolution and in the specified coordinate system from the inputs, taking into account the relative precision of each DEM's. This tool will provide much-needed capabilities to the extremely large GIS user market, and also to the military visualization and simulation community.
