Research abstract

A DEMONSTRATION TEST WILL BE CONDUCTED AT A HOST FACILITY TOSHOW BOTH THE TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY OF AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLING ON-SITE STANDBY GENERATORS TO REDUCE THE PEAK ELECTRICAL DEMAND FROM THE SUPPLYING ELECTRIC UTILITY. DEMAND REDUCTION WILL BE ACHIEVED WITHOUT PARALLELING THE UTILITY SUPPLY WITH THE STANDBY GENERATOR AND AUTOMATIC CONTROL OF THE DEMAND REDUCTION WILLBE ACHIEVED WITH A PROPRIERTARY MICROPROCESSOR - BASED CONTROL SYSTEM UTILIZING VARIOUS INPUT AND OUTPUT SIGNALS. THE MICROPROCESSOR - BASED CONTROL SYSTEM WILL ALSO COLLECT AND STORE ALL DATA NEEDED TO ANALYZE TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC PARAMETERS OF IMPORTANCE. SUCH DATA WILL BE SUBSEQUENTLY ANALYZED AND REPORTED UPON.
