Research abstract

A PLAN FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MESOSCALE WEATHER NOWCASTING SYSTEM IS PROPOSED. THAT SYSTEM WOULD BE USED AS A TACTICAL DECISION AID FOR SUPPORT OF TACTICAL ARMY OPERATIONS. THE SYSTEM WOULD BE COMPOSED OF MODULAR SENSOR PACKAGES, A TELEMETRY SYSTEM, A FLEXIBLE SYSTEM OF SENSOR DEPLOYMENT, AND A MICROPROCESSOR BASED TACTICAL COMPUTER SYSTEM FOR THE ANALYSIS AND DISPLAY OF DATA COLLECTED. THE PROPOSED SYSTEM WOULD ALLOW FOR MAXIMUM FLEXIBILITY IN GATHERING ENVIRONMENTAL INTELLIGENCE AND WOULD BE EASY TO USE WITH A MINIMUM AMOUNT OF TRAINING. NEITHER METEOROLOGICAL EXPERTISE, NOR COMPUTER EXPERTISE, WOULD BE NECESSARY TO CONFIGURE, OPERATE AND USE THE SYSTEM.
