Research abstract

We propose to develop and demonstrate additive manufacturing (AM) processes to produce metamaterial lenses process in Mid Wavelength Infrared (MWIR) (3–5 µm) or Long Wavelength Infrared (LWIR) (8–12 µm) bands derived from full-wave electrodynamic simulation.  Demonstrate feasibility by a combination of analysis, modelling, simulation, and evaluation of proposed process steps against established manufacturing methods. Include the initial process specifications, AM equipment requirements, test specifications, and prototype plans to be developed under Phase II.
