Research abstract

This proposal combines recent developments in the Java and CORBA communitieswith the real-time capabilities for the CORDS/GIPC group communications system.By enhancing those basic technologies with comonents that provide easilyaccessible fault-tolerance methods, the resulting system will be useful in militarycombat systems as well as commercial environments, such as factory floor automationand stock exchanges. This project will produce a system in which only one form of executable object exists, and that object can execute on any node regardless of the underlying platform. Thesystem enables the development of efficient implementations of real-time,fault-tolerant applications. The project leverages the existing base of Java and Adaapplications and programmers and fosters the creation of code without hiddensecurity risks.
