Research abstract
TeachTown will create a software curriculum designed specifically to teach crucial language and
social skills to children with autism and related disorders. The company will incorporate
scientifically validated behavior programs into a high quality software platform using a licensed
(ASP) model. The program will also assist other special needs children (including speech delay,
mental retardation, and developmental disorders). Using proven behavioral programs, like
Discrete Trial Training (DTT) and Pivotal Response Training (PRT), psychologists have shown
that they can often improve the quality of life for many children and help them to integrate more
successfully into society. Behavioral programs represent the single best treatment for millions of
children. This statement is backed by more than 20 years of research and clinical data.
TeachTown is a developmentally based curriculum. It is a comprehensive package that includes
a cutting edge software program and a training manual for parents and educators that includes
supplemental learning activities to enhance the skills learned in the software. In addition the
package will be delivered in a convenient binder with valuable forms and tracking documents to
assist in organizing the child’s progress.
