Research abstract

Aspen Systems proposes to develop a small portable personal cooling system that may be used by Special Operations Forces with or without NBC protective clothing. The use of NBC garments in warm environments can severely inhibit the operators fromperforming at thier top level both physically and mentally, which considering their mission, would drastically reduce survivability. The proposed solution will utilize Aspen's proprietary miniature rotary compressor in a vapor compression cooling system. The product resulting from this development effort will be lightweight, compact, and provide 300 Watts of cooling on demand for various missions.
