Research abstract

HIGHLY SELECTIVE TRANSFORMATIONS ARE OF GREAT IMPORTANCE TO THE CHEMICAL INDUSTRY BECAUSE THEY AVOID COSTLY SEPARATIONS AND REDUCE WASTE. TO DEMONSTRATE THE FEASIBILITY OF MOLECULAR IMPRINTING USING INORGANIC SYSTEMS, RESEARCHERS ARE PREPARING A STEREOSELECTIVE CATALYST FOR THE PHOTOCATALYTIC CONVERSION OF 2.6-DIAMINOHEXANOIC ACID TO OPTICALLY PURE L-PIPECOLIC ACID IN HIGH YIELD BY IMPRINTING TIO2 WITH THE AID OF A TEMPLATE. L-PIPECOLIC ACID IS AN IMPORTANT CHIRAL SYNTHON IN THE PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY. AFTER REMOVING THE TEMPLATE, THE IMPRINTED TIO2 CATALYZES STEREOCYCLIZATION OF 2.6-DIAMINOHEXANOIC ACID TO L-PIPECOLIC ACID. L-PIPECOLIC ACID OF HIGH OPTICAL PURITY IS PRODUCED. THE MOLECULAR IMPRINTING TECHNIQUE IS BEING USED TO PREPARE INORGANIC BIOMIMETIC SYSTEMS WITH HIGH SELECTIVITY AND SPECIFICITY. RESEARCHERS ARE PREPARING HIGHLY SELECTIVE ADSORBENTS FOR THE SEPARATION OF OPTICAL ISOMERS BY IMPRINTING SIO2.
