Research abstract

Identification by radar of moving targets, including aircraft, ground vehicles, andships, is difficult because their complex backscattering behavior is coupled withmotion that is not smooth. The identification cannot be based on target shape andsize alone. MARK Resources has developed an advanced radar signal processingtechnology for extracting detailed information about target features that can be usedfor identification. It utilizes the return signal phase, which is usually discarded. On this basis the Navy will have a reliable all-weather identification system thatdoes not require the cooperation of the target.
