Research abstract
In most facets of system development, upgrading a system from last decade's technology to today's to gain processor speed or new services has risk and effort associated with it, but these factors can be planned and funding can be allocated to accomplishlong-term goals for technology refreshment. Capabilities in data transfer ship-to-ship are affected more by the physics of RF communication itself, and there is less of a commercial industry push to increase technological evolution in these areas. Theresult is that growth in off-platform interconnectivity occurs more slowly. System designers, wishing to achieve more data throughput in ship-to-ship communication, are turning toward alternate methods. Techniques that provide more efficient usage of theexisting resources, such as data compression and link resource management have shown promise in the commercial world and can be readily applied. What is required is to step
