Research abstract

The development of a computer database software in Microsoft (MS) Windows is proposed. The proposed software product which is to emulate the reference section of Huber and Herzberg's book, Spectroscopy of Diatomic Molecules, will contain complete and updated spectroscopic data on diatomic molecules. One design goal will be to create a graphical user interface (GUI) which is user-friendly, flexible and functional. All molecular states are displayed in its symbolic form, exactly as it appears in printed literature. The search and data display screens will be designed to be flexible and efficient. Included in phase I development is a module that plots the potential energy diagram (both Morse and RKR potentials) of the electronic state for those molecules with sufficient data. The end-product of Phase I development will be a working version (version 1.0) of the database software.
