Research abstract

Not Available There is mounting evidence that schools providing computer technology for their students are utilizing furniture that is ill suited to the task and potentially debilitating to the student. Almost all computer workstations available in schools today do not readily allow the user to place the keyboard at the proper height for ergonomically correct keyboarding. We propose that the use of our economical, electrically adjustable computer workstation and adjustable student chair design, will improve keyboarding and posture. Our adjustable workstation and chair will help maintain a students ability to concentrate and also reduce the possibility of neural and musculoskeletal injuries. We need to refine and test our prototypes and develop methods and materials that will let students and teachers easily ascertain the correct seat height and work surface height for any individual using an ergonomically adjustable workstation.
