Research abstract

Future missile systems may use high energy density fuels to improve range and performance. Some of these candidate fuels have high viscosity and/or are slurries containing hard solid particles. A high pressure, throttleable fuel pump that is compatible with these high viscosity fuels is needed for flight applications. In the proposed program, Creare will develop a positive displacement, metering fuel pump that will accurately supply a controllable flow of fuel for a wide range of fuel properties and output pressures. The pump will combine proven technology with an innovative package design to meet the size, weight, power, and performance requirements for flight hardware.
