Research abstract

Owing to the proliferationof chemical and biological weapons by countries not friendly to the US, and attack is an increasing possibility. In the event of an attack the accurate prediction of the dispersal of chemical and biological agents is necessary for minimizing the effects of their release. In the event that is becomes necessary to detroy the plants which fabricate or store these weapons, the most efficient method of completely destroying the facility should be undertaken. In order to predict the dispersal and destruction of chemical and biological agents, JAYCOR proposes to develop a computer model containing all of the issues that are involved in the control and spreading of these materials. These include missile-to-missile intercept, a missile attack which can spread the materials over the ground and into the buildings, dispersal in a buildings' rooms and ventilation system, and the in-situ destruction of the agents. JAYCOR will use its EITACC computer program as the basis for this effort. EITACC has all of the required elements for predicting the destruction and dispersal of chemical and biological agents. These include complex geometry, compressible flow, two-phase flow, chemical reactions, and turbulence.
