Research abstract

A proposal for improving the speed and ease for securing and unsecuring cargo from an LCAC. Using significant proprietary improvements to the existing tensioning mechanism and the restraint hooks significant time savings can be obtained. With theseimprovements as a background, near horizon technical developments could reduce mounting and demounting times to seconds. There are also several options available investigate longer term improvements to increase strength, lighten the equiptment and reducecosts. It is anticipated that any innovations in cargo lashing can also be applied to commercial shipping, both rail and trucking. It is well known that speed and ease of loading and off-loading cargo means significant cost savings for the commercialsector.
