Research abstract

Future hypersonic systems require advanced RF materials capable of enduring the extreme environments of hypersonic flight. Sensors, seekers, and other on-board electronic systems require dielectric materials to meet survivability requirements while maintaining low loss dielectric performance for effective communication.  ATC’s RIPS material is a leading candidate for this application.  While RIPS’s material performance has been identified, and system-level tests completed to show suitability for these applications, additional testing is required to prepare for transition.  This program includes larger production runs of coupons and prototypes to develop statistically significant performance characteristics of representative quantities and batch sizes.  Multiple prototype elements will be delivered at the conclusion of the program for ground, or flight tests occurring beyond the scope of this program.
