Research abstract

The goal of the "Parents, Schools and Cultural Mutuality" project is to develop instructional/educational materials for both school systems and families of diverse cultures to enable schools to benefit from cultural expertise fo families and to enable families to benefit from the knowledge held by schools. Schools that utilize the concept of cultural mutuality can improve the involvement of parents and communities in education. By understanding school culture and information, families can increase their participation in their children's education, make their voices heard and their children increasingly benefit fro access to culturally apprpriate validateted instructional practices. In turn, both families and schools become more successful in helping culturally, linguistically and ability-diverse (CLAD) children realize more positive educational results.
