Research abstract

Prime Solutions Group Inc. (PSG) proposes LANTERNóLayered Awareness through passive multi-spectral Neuromorphic Tracking and Event Recognition Networkóto provide the Navy with an innovative, passive, near-real time multi-spectral detection and tracking solution in operational environments. Leveraging a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach, LANTERN integrates neuromorphic Electro-Optical (EO) and Infrared (IR) sensors that capture pixel-level changes rather than full video frames, enabling high-speed, low-latency detection and tracking under diverse conditions. By fusing EO and IR data, PSG anticipates improvements over traditional single-band sensors in identifying and classifying a wide range of targets and objects, especially in challenging settings of low light, fog, smoke or debris. A digital twin framework allows rapid prototyping, cost-effective development, and risk reduction by converting existing EO/IR datasets into synthetic ìeventsî for initial artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) model training, reducing the need for specialized hardware in early stages.Designed for seamless integration with the Aegis Combat System (ACS), LANTERN will offer near-instant geolocation and tracking outputs without burdening existing combat infrastructure. Its distributed architecture also supports networked operations, allowing multiple sensor units to share observations and refine 3D target location estimates. LANTERNís ability to deliver actionable intelligence in near-real time, without active emissions, enhances survivability and adaptability in contested environments. Ultimately, this system offers a clear path for commercialization beyond defense applications such as border security, critical infrastructure monitoring, and disaster response, due to its extensible and scalable design.
