Research abstract

THE MAJOR GOALS FOR THE GRAPHICAL INTERNATIONAL FOOD RETRIEVAL AND ANALYSIS PROGRAM SYSTEM WERE TO COMPLETE THE INTERACTIVE PORTION OF THE SYSTEM AND TO ALLOW FOR THE INTEGRATION OF OTHER DATABASES. THE MICROSOFT WINDOWS SOFTWARE UNDER DOS WAS CHOSEN FOR DEVELOPMENT DUE TO ITS LARGER USER BASE. DURING PHASE I, INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SERVICES, INC., DEVELOPED THE SYSTEM INTO A FULLY INTERACTIVE, GRAPHICALLY WINDOWED SYSTEM THAT PROVIDED ALL THE FEATURES DEFINED BY THE NATIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE. THE NEW PACKAGE WAS NAMED THE FASTFOOD SYSTEM. FASTFOOD OPERATES UNDER MICROSOFT WINDOWS 2.1 USING MS-DOS 3.0 OR GREATER. USERS CAN ENTER A SEARCH STATEMENT DIRECTLY OR USE THE FACTORED FOOD VOCABULARY QUERY WINDOW TO SELECT THE FOODS THEY WANT TO SEARCH ON. USERS MAY ALSO BUILD SEARCHES BY REFERENCING PREVIOUS QUERIES. FULL BOOLEAN LOGIC IS SUPPORTED BY THE SYSTEM. THE FASTFOOD SYSTEM IS FULLY OPERATIONAL FOR SEARCHING AND ANALYZING. THE SYSTEM CURRENTLY CONTAINS TWO DATABASES, USDA AND CHINESE.
