Research abstract
Energy conservation in an electric vehicle requires high efficient operation of components using light weight materials. This technology will be applied t the mobile military APU units. The generator and compressor designs are smaller, lighter and highly efficient using a different technology. A new compressor currently designed by a member of our Team uses a highly efficient anti-friction orbital rotating machine which has fewer moving parts and lighter weight unit in the smallest space possible with both cooling and heating capabilities. The vapor compression air conditioning/heat pump cycle design is the most commerically-viable system yet developed. The heat exchangers, valves, compressor and motor will optimize efficiency and weight. Using new materials. The DynEco hat pump deisgn should provide a 30 percent decerase in weight and fuel consumption. Using the External Combusion Thermal Amplification Motor (ECTAM) technology motor operating at higher efficincies using a variety of fuels will be evaluated for use in the APU. The generator design uses cooling vanes and magnet designs that allows for a smaller and light weight with higher efficiency. A new configuration of the DC buss will supply the required power requirements while meeting reduced weight requirements.
