Research abstract

In the domain of weapon/fire control systems, embedded software will be a key costdriver in the next generation. The omnipresence of embedded systems in today's marketand the quality of requirements that these systems are expected to meet, put a greatdeal of pressure to bear on the techniques used to develop these systems. The technical objectives of the Phase II SBIR are to:(1) Build a scaleable Integrated Tool Environment (ITE) for Product Line Engineering of Embedded Applications, focusing on the Automation and Robotics Lab program: Crew Station Decision Aids.(2) Develop the supporting design methodology for the ITE.It is recognized that development of standardized product line (or reference)architectures with concomitant infrastructure technology, tools, and designmethodology is an enabler to control software cost and complexity. This effort proposes the development of standardized infrastructure technology, tools, and design methodology for the management and control of cost and complexityof software used in embedded combat vehicle and indirect fire weapon applications.
