Research abstract

An innovative compact amplifier design has been developed based on power combining of MMIC amplifiers. This amplifier will provide 10-20W power output with the reliability and compactness inherent in solid-state-based devices. Higher output poweramplifiers are needed to extend the range and increase link margin of point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and satellite communications links in Ka-Band. Solid state amplifiers are uniquely suited to meeting the challenging reliability and costrequirements of these applications.
