Research abstract

Compensation of atmospheric and other deleterious thermal and vibration induced affects in an optical system can be achieved by using mirrors with active control. It has been demonstrated that active mirror control can enable performance near thediffraction limit. To date such results are limited to single wavelength systems that are part of strategic military directed energy or surveillance systems and commercial ground based astronomical systems. Xinetics proposes to extend the utility of activecontrol to multispectral imaging in a tactical format designed to enhance reconnaissance in the local theater during aerial surveillance missions.
