Research abstract

The overall objective of this SBIR project is to demonstrate the feasibility of a new, all solid state, solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technology to generate electric power in a reliable and cost effective manner from air (or oxygen) and hydorgen (or low molecular weight hydorcarbon fuels). These exists a significant need for alternative, environmentallyclan sources of electical energy that are suitable for mobile nad remote site use. In particular, cost effective, reliable and efficient power sources are needed for electric vehicles. For this type of application, it is essential that the power source possess high energy density and that it be efficiently manufactured. Anticipated Benefits: A new technology to generate power for stationary and vehicular use.
