Research abstract

The objective of this Phase II SBIR proposal is to develop increased capability and fidelity in ground hazard estimation modeling following the interception by a directed energy (DE) weapon of a missile containing a chemical or biological payload. Thisincreased capability will be accomplished primarily through a set of experiments that will provide more stringent bounds on unitary chemical source terms, the most sensitive factor in determining ground hazards. In conjunction with the test program, wewill investigate additional damage modes and engagement scenarios, threat types, payload response, and usability. This Phase II proposal describes a program consisting of experimental, analytical, and software developmental components to achieve theseadditional capabilities, to be realized in modifications to the Missile Defense Agency core lethality model PEGEM.
