Research abstract
Not Available Phase I research determined it was feasible to proceed with a comprehensive technology-enhanced training monitoring, communication, and feedback system for agency trainers and care providers in Adult Family/Foster Care Programs in rural communities. Phase II will develop, test, and assess the marketability of components/prototype System in Phase I states (Idaho, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Virginia) adding Texas and West Virginia to test product acceptability in other rural communities. Components of the System include: 1) Toll-free telephone to lessen rural care provider isolation through increased access to problem-solving; 2) Hard copy interactive newsletter for rural care providers not having convenient access to computers; 3) Internet web page for bulletin board announcements, one page fact sheets, interactive newsletter, and short training courses; 4) Two training videos for agencies or care provider self-training, with continuing education hours for satisfactory completion of accompanying evaluation; 5) Database to monitor utilization and satisfaction records for System components as a service to agencies and care providers; 6) Comprehensive system to be promoted nationally as well as in six pilot states. INTERgeneration LINKS products and services could lead to improved instruction and access to training in Adult Family/Foster Care Programs for rural America.
