Research abstract

Scientific Technology, Inc. (ScTI) proposes to perform a feasibility study of a compact, wide bandwidth, electronically scanned (E-scan) high gain beam, stacked microstrip phased array SHF antenna. An aperture-coupled, corner-fed stacked square-patch antenna is proposed as the radiating element for high polarization isolation and wide bandwidth application. Each elemetn is fed through an aperture by a feeding entwork underneath with digitally controlled phase shifter. by propertly controlling the phase and ampliturde fed to each radiating element, a beam is formed and steered to teh desired direction without mechanically moving the array and without rotating of the polarization. This stacked phase array is compact in size, and light in weight making it easily transportable and deployable.
