Research abstract

THE PRESENT PROGRAM HAS THREE TECHNICAL OBJECTIVES. THE FIRST IS TO CONSTRUCT A COMPUTER CONTROLLED VERSION OF A CONFIGURABLE OPTICAL SUPERCLASSIFIER THAT IS CAPABLE OF ACCEPTING A SYSTOLIC STREAM OF INPUT DATA. THE NEXT MAJOR OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROPOSAL IS TO DEVELOP A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE BUS STRUCTURE THAT WILL BE REQUIRED TO FEED DATA INTO THE OPTICAL SUPERCLASSIFIER AT RATES THAT ARE COMMENSURATE WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF THE OPTICAL MACHINE. THE FINAL OBJECTIVE IS TO DEVELOP THE ARCHITECTURE AND DETAILED HARDWARE DESCRIPTION OF AN ADAPTIVE THRESHOLD LOGIC CLASSIFIER THAT CAN RESPOND TO NEW PROBLEMS WITHOUT REQUIRING ANY EXTERNAL COMPUTATIONAL RESOURCES.
