Research abstract

Morgan Research Corporation proposes a Phase II SBIR effort to develop an integrated sensor suite suitable for munition and missile health monitoring systems, and compatible with the Army RRAPDS program. The Phase I effort demonstrated the feasibility ofthe concept as well as developed detailed designs, process flows, materials requirements, and performance estimates. The Phase II effort will integrate a three-axis accelerometer, a three-axis no-power shock sensor, a temperature sensor, a humidity sensor, and a signal conditioning ASIC into a packaged demonstration unit anle to be integrated with the data storage, processing, and communications components of the health monitoring system. The proposed integrated sensor suite has application to a wide varietyof military systems, including missile systems such as THAAD, Patriot, and TOW, automated test equipment, land vehicles, and rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft. This sensor suite, and its potential variants, could find application in high-dollar commercialassets, as well, including marine vehicles, automobiles, commercial aircraft, and other assets with high maintenance costs. In addition, environmental and industrial process control units and systems can benefit from the size, cost, and functionality ofthese integrated units.
