Research abstract

This project uses an existing online information system and adds two major capabilities: multiplelines of communication with providers located in an online database, and a system database with built-inuser assistance to facilitate location of resources within a large information system. Users are able tocall online via modem, or call a clerk/information specialist to obtain service information regardingcommunity based adjunct health care services. This system is tested for its ability to reduce the timerequired of rural primary health care providers to locate adjunct services for patients. Convenience andaccuracy are believed to be powerful incentives for support staff to use this system.
