Research abstract
ALTHOUGH TECHNOLOGY IS AVAILABLE FOR ALL AIRCRAFT TO EQUIP WITH TCAS, GENERAL AVIATION (GA) IS NOT EAGER TO EQUIP FOR ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL REASONS. CURRENT SYSTEMS ARE SIMPLY TOO EXPENSIVE FOR GA, AND GA OPPOSES ANYTHING REMINISCENT OF "BIG BROTHER" TRACKING MOVEMENTS THROUGH TERMINAL AREAS. THE OBJECTIVE IS TO MAKE A SYSTEM AVAILABLE TO GA THAT IS LOW-COST, THAT WILL APEAL TO GA USERS, AND IMPROVE ATC SAFETY OVERALL.
