Research abstract

RESEARCHERS ARE USING THE TRANSPUTERS AND THE ARRAYS OF TRANSPUTERS TO IMPLEMENT NEW ALGORITHMS FOR A VARIETY OF PROBLEMS. THESE NEW ALGORITHMS USE THE WAVELET TRANSFORMATION IN ORDER TO EXPLORE THE SPACIAL/FREQUENCY DOMAIN THAT IS CONVENTIONALLY STUDIED WITH THE FOURIER TRANSFORMATIONS AND WITH THE GABOR TRANSFORMATIONS. THE WAVELET TRANSFORM IS BEING USED TO EVALUATE THE FRACTAL DIMENSION OF TURBULENT DYNAMICAL SYSTEMS. THIS FORMS THE BASIS FOR A MORE EFFECTIVE STARTING POINT FOR PATTERN RECOGNITION.
