Research abstract

This research proposes to design, qualify, and demonstrate an effective Mixed-Signal Simulation Technology Integration Environment (MISTIE). It will integrate supporting elements and technologies for analog and mixed-signal hardware description language development, validation, and application as a support tool suite. It will be particularly attuned to needs of the developing VHDL-A standard language. Elements to be integrated in Phase 1 are being developed under several programs. These include Spice-like libraries, a parser, a validation suite, and integrating environment and user interface. Phase II will provide support environment and usage guidelines, as well as an accelerator and standard analyzer. The innovation is to design and qualify an effective integrating environment, which will be based upon CFI or Ptolomy. The objectives are to: 1) identify products for integration; 2) perform the system top-level design; 3) implement, test, and validate a portion of this design; 4) schedule the integration of the other parts for Phase II; and 5) produce the development, validation, and commercialization plans for Phase II and beyond. The deliverable implementation will be immediately useful for VHDL-A language validation and the design, qualified through Phase I experimentation, will be a basis for Phase II prototype development.
