Research abstract

The use of multi-component waste products provides an opportunity to produce aroofing material with an excellent balance of cost and properties. Simulatedslate tiles comprised of fly ash, other reinforcing filler, and thermoset hybridresin have been modelled. Based on initial market reactions to preliminary cost, physical properties data, and appearance, this application appears promising.Ecomat has demonstrated that mixing techniques, when used with certain by-productcharacteristics produce solids that are 90 weight percent waste products.Physical properties can be significantly changed by altering the level and typeof by product, chemical component, or basic ratio of one thermoset polymer to thesecond which make up the hybrid.
