Research abstract

The problem addressed here is how to structure a computer program (MOPIT) which can choose from a library of computer modules to solve a new problem defined by the user. The modules must have common naming conventions, appropriate linking and have suitable input-output provisions. A preprocessor will also be supplied as part of the proposed research. The preprocessor using information supplied by the user will accept existing computer code modules and suitably modify them to be included in the library. Using the concept of neural nets MOPIT will have internal checking features to determine if the proposed new code contains all the necessary modules for successful execution. Thus computer program modules can be extracted from a variety of existing codes and reassembled for an entirely different purpose. MOPIT will be a self learning program which will be capable of self modification for particular environments. The program will be user friendly so that using only the modules supplied in the library a non specialist can use the program.
