Areas of cerebral injury manifested by changes in cerebral oxygenation willbe displayed using multiple infrared light emitters and detectors in wavelengths corresponding tooxygenated and deoxygenated hemoglobin. The contractor shall demonstrate in inanimate modelsystems that quantitative determination of blood oxygenation can be made, and that in living systemsthis measure can be correlated with measures of MRI lactate concentrations and jugular venousoxygenation. Objective standardization and clinical feasibility shall be demonstrated.
