Research abstract
Not Available Digital imagery offers a number of advantages over traditional photography. With few or no moving parts digital cameras can be rugged. The constant evolution of semiconductor technology makes them small and powerful. The CAM+ takes advantage of these factors, and our own expertise in building rugged and modular devices to create a digital camera that not only meets all the requirements of the solicitation, but exceeds them. The small camera housing is entirely sealed. A lens port with a sealant plate and contact free Hall effect buttons means the user will never break the camera seal. A fast FireWire data port eliminates the need for fragile removable storage media and offers effortless connectivity. Combined with a low-power CMOS image sensor, and industry standard interchangeable lenses, CAM+ is a reliable and powerful digital camera. Based on our existing modular VISION architecture, CAM+ will also be highly versatile. The Harris PRISM chipset supports wireless image transmission and RF navigation for position tagging of images. More than a housing around a COTS camera module, the CAM+ will be built from the ground up to minimize weight, power consumption and size, while maximizing performance, reliability and versatility.
