Research abstract
The approach described within this proposal focuses on the identification and analysis of data sources, formats, and user requirements; and is coupled with the development of a user application for test and demonstration during Phase II. Our results areexpected to demonstrate the ability for users, regardless of bandwidth limitations, to access, view, fuse and manipulate data from multiple sources using one common user interface. Emphasis will be placed on working through TEDServices, nd will supportNITES2, EVIS and other initiatives. A description of the system architecture, objects of our data analysis and the methods to be used is presented, along with the processes by which the software will be developed. The successful completion of the proposedresearch can aid the Navy and DOD in integrating diverse METOC and other data sources as well as enhance the processes through which these data sources and the products they product are used. Commercial uses include support of airline and shipping weatherforecasting, and emergency management services in planning and managing disaster relief.
