The objective of meeting a 3-meter positional accuracy usingLink-16 RELNAV was shownpossible during the Phase I effort. The proposed effort willimplement the software changes required to enable the inclusion ofdifferential RELNAV and GPS corrections for both timing andpositionestimates. The main focus of this effort is to demonstrate theperformanceof the improved algorithm set, and to start the development effortrequiredto transition this concept to a deployable solution. We expectthat anaccuracy improvement of a factor of ten is feasible using only theproposedsoftware changes. Although not part of the initial developmenteffort, itis quite likely that a large number of already deployed terminalscan beupgraded to include the new software, thus making deploymenteasier.
