Research abstract
The goal of this project is to explore the feasibility and benefits of using advanced signal processing techniques based on higher-order statistics for EW support receivers and Active Electronic Attack adaptive filtering system based on nonlinear prediction to replace notch filters in ES receivers for the fast and robust cancellation of interference and jamming; (ii) design and processing of a new set of AEA waveforms that have "key features" and "critical variations" in their higher-order statistics domain for stimulating receivers to get the masking or blocking that is desired; (iii) evaluation of the performance of all these techniques against different interference characteristics, SIR, SNR, and probability-of-intercept versus false alarm rate; and (iv) (in an option) the adaptive filter system will be designed as a candidate architecture for implementation in Phase II using commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) signal processors.
