Research abstract

In Phase I of this SBIR TecFocus developed a new approach to acoustically resolving small objects in two dimensions. This technique has the potential to allow discrimination between mine-like and non-mine-like objects at the long ranges usuallyassociated with object detection, therefore significantly reducing the time required for surveillance of an area during MCM operations. The proposed Base effort will refine the algorithms, develop performance predictions, and implement a prototype forevaluation at sea. The two option phases wil support the sea test, analyze the sea test data, and perform system analyses for potential transition to Phase III.
