Research abstract

Government and industry have made large investments in the development of mesh-based analysis software to address a wide range of physics simulations. Critical applications of these technologies involve geometrically complex situations and require massively parallel computers to achieve the necessary level of accuracy. This complexity requires the ability to automatically generate and adaptively control the meshes needed by the analysis software on these massively parallel computers. This project will provide a direct linkage to simulation automation technologies, thereby providing access to robust capabilities for parallel mesh generation and adaptivity. These capabilities will be demonstrated through the development of adaptive simulations operating on massively parallel computers. Commercial Applications and other Benefits as described by the awardee The technology should (1) speed the development of new simulation tools within the DOE and other research organizations; (2) provide a seamless mechanism for transitioning new simulation technologies to a broader user community; and (3) provide the means to apply new simulation technologies in the design and production of new products for a broad range of industries, from aerospace to consumer products.
